Just Wingin It club members conducted an Aviation Camp/EAA Young Eagles Rally in the spring of 2013. The goal was to develop interest in aviation in the younger generation and to provide the classes for the Boy Scouts of America aviation merit badge. Members conducted courses on aircraft preflight, instruments, building an aircraft out of a foam plate, careers in aviation and many other subjects. Friday evening we had a movie and popcorn night in the large hangar. Saturday, the flight line lit up with the roar of aircraft engines to give each participant a plane ride while the classes were being taught at various points on the apron and in the buildings. Bad weather caused a postponement of the original date but even with the delay and re-schedule, over 80 young people received a flight that day and many merit badge forms were signed. The event was open to both young men and women ages 11 to 18. Many thanks to our volunteers who conducted the courses, advertised the event, gathered registrations, to the pilots that brought their planes and to Dr. DeLoach who made a generous donation to help make the event happen. Also a thanks to Kent Stewart our photographer who's pic's of the events follow. The community support was overwhelming so we decided to repeat the event in 2014.
